We, the students from the Fashion Design and Merchandising program, humbly petition for shared access to the Sewing Production Room [Room 808] during Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These slots, are currently used by Slim’s Fashion and Art School’s Fundamental of Sewing and Couture Methods in Garment Construction classes, is essential for our hands-on sewing sessions, pattern-making, and garment construction, which are critical components of our coursework that lack alternatives due to high demand on other facilities. It is just right for us to wish access upon this facility as the students pay for laboratory fees.
Why This Matters to Our Entire Cohort: As a collective, we face a shortage of dedicated sewing space during peak afternoon hours, directly hindering our practical skill-building in garment assembly and technical sewing. Many students have faced delays in their projects because of this scheduling conflict. The Sewing Production Room offers the ideal setup with industrial sewing machines, large tables, light, and power outlets that are most likely unavailable elsewhere. Granting shared access promotes resource equity for all creative programs without disrupting Slim’s schedule; our use enhances utilization for the whole department.
