We, the residents of the Oak Street neighborhood, submit this petition to formally request that the City Council install traffic calming measures, such as speed humps or a four-way stop sign, at the intersection of Oak Street and 5th Avenue.
Over the past year, this residential area has experienced a significant increase in traffic volume and reckless speeding. With many young children, elderly residents, and pedestrians using these sidewalks daily, the current situation poses a severe safety risk. Several near-miss accidents have already occurred, and residents no longer feel safe walking in their own neighborhood.
We deserve to live in a secure environment.
Therefore, we urge the local government to prioritize our safety and take immediate action to implement traffic-calming solutions before a tragic accident occurs. We request a meeting with the transportation department to discuss these measures within the next 30 days.
