We are deeply concerned about the recent rise in youth violence in Melbourne and across Australia, including the tragic deaths of two young boys. Such incidents highlight the urgent need for action to prevent violence, protect our communities, and support at-risk teenagers.
We call on the Australian government to:
Invest in youth programs that provide mentorship, conflict resolution training, and education.
Expand access to mental health services for teens struggling with trauma, stress, or anger.
Strengthen community policing and rapid-response initiatives to prevent violent incidents.
Work with schools, families, and local organizations to address the root causes of youth violence.
No family should live in fear, and no community should feel unsafe. By taking immediate and coordinated action, Australia can give young people the support they need and prevent future tragedies.
